The Worm Way

Our Philosophy: Sleep as Foundation, Not Frustration

At Worm, we believe that sleep isn’t just a biological necessity, it’s the foundation upon which family wellbeing is built. But we also know that conventional approaches to sleep often leave parents feeling more exhausted, not less. Our philosophy is simple: When families understand sleep as a natural, evolving relationship rather than a problem to solve, everyone rests easier.

A familiar feeling. A new world of rest.

The Worm Way isn’t a prescriptive method or rigid system. It’s a mindful approach to family sleep built on these core principles:

Start with the senses.

Light, sound, smell, taste and touch shape how we experience our surroundings. We take the senses seriously, using them as a starting point for thoughtful design and small, practical ways to make winding down feel more comfortable.

Familiar Feels Good.

A favourite texture. A recognisable colour. Something well known to reach for. We’re building an ecosystem of products connected by our WORM Soft textile, five core colours and sensory principles, bringing familiar comfort that stays with your family through the years.

Connection Comes First

Rest is a whole-family affair. Everyone’s needs matter, including yours. The WORM WAY makes space for closeness, reassurance and listening to one another, helping you find an approach that supports your child and feels sustainable for you.

Find your family’s way.

Every household has its own rhythms, pressures and capacity. Take stock of what works for yours. Familiar sensory cues can offer continuity through changing routines, different rooms and nights away, so comfort can travel even when life doesn’t follow the plan.

Give Yourself Some Grace.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s presence. There will be settled nights, disrupted nights and times when you need to rethink things. Make room to adapt, ask for support and begin again. Rest is a practice we’re learning together.

Safety first.

Rest is practise.

Familiar feels good.

For the whole family.

Our Commitment to You

Every Worm product is thoughtfully designed in our Portuguese studio and created from materials selected for their comfort, durability, and environmental responsibility. We work exclusively with manufacturers who share our values of ethical production and fair labour practices.

We test every product with real families in real homes because we know the gap between theory and 3am reality can be vast. Nothing reaches your family that hasn’t been thoroughly loved by others first.

Most importantly, we see ourselves not just as a product company but as fellow travelers on the parenting journey. Whether you purchase from us or simply find comfort in our resources, you’re part of the Worm family and we’re honoured to walk alongside you.

Joanie’s Journey

It started with one WORM.

It started with Space Worm.

After 15 years in the fashion industry, I stepped away from my career role to find a more flexible rhythm and be present for my growing family. Then the pandemic hit. I was pregnant, at home with a toddler and no childcare. Sleep became something the whole household depended on.

During that pregnancy, my body pillow became my main source of comfort. My son called it WORM and wanted one of his own. So I made him one, experimenting with the fabric, shape and feel. He named his “Space Worm.”

Five years later, it’s still in his bed.

What began as something I made for my son became the starting point for WORM. Watching him return to that same familiar comfort, year after year, made me think differently about what we bring into our sleep spaces.

As a designer, I’d spent years creating newness. As a parent, I began to see the value in keeping something the same.

That idea sits at the heart of WORM: thoughtful products connected by familiar textures, colours and sensory experiences. An ecosystem designed to grow with your family while keeping the feeling you already know.

Because sleep affects the whole household. And familiar comfort deserves a place in how we support it.

Safety first. ALWAYS

WORM is a weighted comfort object. Never leave a child under 24 months unattended with WORM, and keep it out of their sleep space for every nap and night. Being able to move it away from their face does not override this rule.

In the younger years, familiarity can begin during awake moments together, with an attentive adult within reach. Follow WORM’s product instructions for floor time, cuddles and support for the adult during feeding. Keep your baby’s face and airway clear, never place weighted sections on their body, and move them to their own clear, flat sleep space if they become sleepy.

Turning two is not an automatic green light. Consider your child’s strength, mobility and ability to move WORM away independently. If any health condition affects their breathing, movement or alertness, seek advice from their healthcare professional before use. Always follow the product’s age and safety guidance.

Those shared, supervised moments are where a familiar texture, appearance and scent can become part of your family’s comfort. Familiarity never replaces safe use.
